Founder Principal, 1975 - 2019
Since the age of three Susan has been involved in dance, performing in Festivals, Dance shows, Pantomimes and Amateur dramatics. After Susan progressed through the examination grades in Modern, Tap, Ballet, Natural Movement and National dance. Her passion for dance continued as a student teacher with The Lewis School of Dance in Aylesbury.
Throughout 1974 Susan qualified as an Associate in Modern, Tap and Ballet with the IDTA continuing to gain further qualifications with ISTD in all genres.
She then became a teacher at Downley Lodge school of Speech and Drama in September1974.
In April 1975 the Susan Diane School of Dance was opened with two classes. Since then Susan has worked hard to build a school that has not only provided an excellent standard of teaching for hundreds of children, but also created a dance family, that now 45 years on many past students return with their own children to have the same wonderful experiences they had. SDSD has performed many charity shows raising thousands for local charities.
In 2017 Susan worked with Queens Park Arts Centre to secure SDSD their very own home, a beautiful purpose built Dance studio.
Susan decided that September 2019 was the time to step back and enjoy a very well deserved retirement. Everybody at SDSD are sad to see her go and are thankful for the years of opportunities and support she has given to all involved at SDSD.
